Position Overview

Kiewit is seeking an experienced Surveyor to support our Western Canada District. As a Surveyor at Kiewit, you will be responsible for providing accurate and reliable surveying services for various infrastructure and construction projects across the West Coast.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct field surveys for construction projects, including topographic, boundary, and construction layout surveys.
  • Perform accurate calculations and data collection for project layouts, including staking for grading, utilities, and structural elements.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure survey data is accurately interpreted and implemented.
  • Operate and maintain surveying equipment, such as total stations, GPS systems, and levels, ensuring all instruments are calibrated and in good working condition.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed survey records, including field notes, sketches, maps, and reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of as-built surveys and documentation to ensure project deliverables meet client and regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, ensuring surveying activities are conducted in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any surveying-related issues that arise during the course of a project.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest surveying technologies, methods, and industry best practices.
Requirements
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction surveying, preferably in large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in using surveying equipment, including total stations, GPS systems, and levels.
  • Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, and blueprints.
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all surveying tasks.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various project sites as required.

  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
  • May work at various different locations and conditions may vary

Compensation: $40.00+ / hr

  • (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
