Pediatric Nurse Specialist

The Pediatric Registered Nurse is a vital member of our healthcare team, providing high-quality patient care to pediatric patients in a pediatric inpatient unit and/or select ambulatory day clinics. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, providing, and evaluating nursing care to pediatric patients, collaborating with patients and their families/care givers, physicians, and members of the inter-professional care team.
Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments of pediatric patients on admission and at regular intervals, identifying risk factors and making nursing diagnoses.
- Develop, implement, and modify care plans in collaboration with patients and their families/care givers, physicians, and the inter-professional care team.
- Provide direct patient care, including administering medications, performing procedures, and providing education to patients and families/care givers.
- Collaborate with the inter-professional care team to ensure comprehensive care planning and delivery, and communicate effectively with patients, families/care givers, and healthcare professionals.
- Participate in quality improvement and risk management activities, identifying patient care issues and providing input for corrective action.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- One (1) year's recent, related clinical nursing experience in the designated clinical area and completion of post-graduate coursework and/or certification applicable to the designated clinical area.
- Clinical proficiency in the designated clinical area, including the ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessments and apply pediatric nursing theory and expertise to provide nursing care to pediatric patients.
