Crisis Counselor

Huronia Transition Homes, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending violence against women, is seeking a temporary full-time Crisis Counsellor to join their team.
The successful candidate will provide immediate and responsive crisis counselling to women experiencing abuse, as well as information, support, and resources to help them navigate challenging situations.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide crisis counselling in person and by telephone to women experiencing abuse
- Offer information, support, practical assistance, safety planning, resources, referrals, and advocacy as needed
- Work with women of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, socio-economic, and linguistic needs
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with community partners and stakeholders
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of programs and services
- Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline or equivalent life/work experience
- Knowledge of issues contained within the violence against women framework
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
