About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled 3D Environment Artist to join our team at Beamdog, a leading game development studio in Edmonton, Alberta. As a 3D Environment Artist, you will play a crucial role in creating immersive and engaging game environments that transport players to new worlds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the level design team to create 3D models and environments that bring our game worlds to life.
  • Work with the art team to ensure artistic unity and consistency across the project.
  • Develop and implement efficient and effective workflows to meet project deadlines.
  • Collaborate with the design team to ensure gameplay and levels function harmoniously.
  • Maintain a high level of quality and attention to detail in all environments and assets.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in game development as an artist creating environment assets for games.
  • Strong understanding of AAA asset creation pipelines in UE5 or equivalent.
  • Proven understanding of working with modular enviro kits, trim sheets, and tiling textures.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in organic and hard surface modeling techniques.
  • Excellent understanding of light, shade, color, and detail when creating textures and materials.
  • Self-motivation, superior communication skills, and a great team-player attitude.
  • Able to work creatively as part of a large or small group.
  • Able to take feedback and critique to iterate on work to completion.
  • Proven ability with problem-solving and prototyping on a game team.
  • Able to effectively collaborate with artists, game designers, and programmers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience authoring performant in-game lighting, aesthetic, and technical constraints.
  • Experience authoring performant Unreal shaders and materials.
  • Experience working with large-scale organic scenes and landscapes.
  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence, Perforce, and other project management tools.
