Adult and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry

The Department of Medical Affairs - Alberta Health Services, is actively recruiting both Adult & Child/Adolescent Psychiatrists to join diverse Addictions & Mental Health teams, providing services to communities with a high need of mental health services. Start dates are negotiable.

You would be providing support to the community/rural clinics in the Central Zone. Addiction & Mental Health services are provided via in-person outpatient clinics, telehealth and other virtual care means.

In Alberta, Psychiatrists typically earn approximately $390,000 yearly. Compensation is based on a fee-for-service model with additional call stipends. Financial incentives such as paid travel arrangements and assistance with relocation is available.

Eligible applicants must have one of the following qualifications:

  • Hold or be eligible for independent practitioner registration with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta
  • Equivalencies deemed appropriate by CPSA for a PRA Assessment with AHS Sponsorship will be considered
  • Hold certification or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry

    Registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) or proof of Eligibility for Alberta Licensure required (to be included with application).
