Marine Atlantic Inc. is seeking a skilled Watchkeeping Engineer to join our team. As a Watchkeeping Engineer, you will be responsible for the safe operation of all mechanical equipment and systems in the machinery spaces.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform watchkeeping duties from the Main Control Room
- Ensure the safe operation of all mechanical equipment and systems
- Refuel the vessel and follow all safety procedures
- Perform preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance as required
- Supervise engine room staff and provide guidance as needed
- Minimum valid 4th Class Motor Certificate STCW 95
- At least 2 years recent experience in a similar position
- Valid STCW 6.1 and 6.2 Certificates
- Propulsion Plant Simulator Certificate II
- Transport Canada mandated Marine Medical Certificate
- Ability to lift, handle, and carry heavy objects over 20 kg
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Valid 3rd Class Motorship Certificate
- Graduate of a recognized Marine school in a related program
- Work experience as a Welder, Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Duty Mechanic, Refrigeration, Machinist, Pipe-fitter, and Electronics
- Passenger Safety Management
- Confined Space Certification
