Security Engineer - Battlefield Game Development Team

Join our team as a Security Engineer and play a critical role in protecting the integrity of the Battlefield game experience. As a key member of the Battlefield Game Development team, you will design and implement game logic and innovative tools to detect and prevent cheating, toxicity, exploitation, and other disruptive behaviors.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain game logic and tools to safeguard the game from bad actors and ensure a safe, fair, and fun gaming environment for all players.
  • Utilize various technologies and methods to prevent and detect cheaters, hackers, exploiters, griefers, and other disruptive players, including encryption, obfuscation, hashing, anti-debugging, and anti-tampering techniques.
  • Collaborate with the Game Ops Positive Play team and cross-functional leaders to develop processes, tools, and systems to act on verified bad actors according to Battlefield-defined measures.
  • Document and escalate cases of confirmed bad actors to the appropriate teams for further action.
  • Work with the Game Integrity Lead to communicate and coordinate with other teams within EA to ensure a consistent and effective approach to positive play enforcement.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions to improve the game's integrity through security, moderation, anti-toxicity, and anti-cheat systems, as well as policies and procedures for positive play enforcement.
Requirements
  • 4+ years of experience in security engineering, game development, or online gaming enforcement, preferably in AAA and/or FPS development.
  • Familiarity with online gaming platforms, services, and technologies, such as EA Play, Steam, Xbox Live, and PSN.
  • Knowledge of common cheating, hacking, exploiting, and griefing methods and tools used in online games, as well as countermeasures and solutions to prevent and detect them.
  • Proficiency in programming languages, such as C++, C#, Java, and Python.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for gaming and positive play.
