Summary: Seeking a Registered Nurse with experience in acute care and hemodialysis to join the nursing team at the Labrador Health Centre in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL.

The Labrador-Grenfell Mentorship Program is designed to prepare novice registered nurses or new nurse graduates to work in a specialty area. This position offers an excellent opportunity to learn advanced nursing knowledge, skills, and decision-making. As an active member of the nursing team, you will provide high-quality care to patients and maintain professional and organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize, plan, implement, and evaluate the plan of care for assigned clients.
  • Maintain competency in technological and clinical skills to provide hemodialysis in a satellite unit.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Document as per professional and organizational standards.
  • Participate in the orientation, mentorship, and preceptoring of staff.
  • Represent nursing on various committees as required.
  • Participate in quality assurance initiatives as requested/required.
  • Act as a liaison between the client and other healthcare providers.
  • May be required to provide relief at other regional satellite units.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an approved/recognized school of nursing program.
  • Current and continuing practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • One year current Acute Care nursing experience preferred.
  • Hemodialysis Education Program or equivalent education or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR).

Salary and Benefits:

  • NS-28 of the RNUNL Salary Scales, $37.86 to $47.16 per hour while in the program.
  • NS-29 of the RNUNL Salary Scales, $48.14 per hour plus the applicable Labrador Allowance upon successful completion of the program.

Hours of Work:

  • Variable shifts.

Enhanced Incentive:

  • Successful applicants who are currently completing the 3rd or 4th year of an approved nursing program are eligible to receive an enhanced incentive of both a bursary and a signing bonus.
