As a Registered Nurse with our team, you will be responsible for providing all aspects of nursing care and directing the work of nursing and personal care staff in the assigned unit. You will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to ensure that our residents receive the highest level of care.

**Key Responsibilities:**

• Ensure that your practice and conduct meet legislative requirements
• Review 24-72 hour shift report at the beginning of shift
• Provide nursing care in accordance with established nursing standards and principles
• Ensure that physician's orders and administrative policies are implemented
• Process physician's orders as required
• Observe, report and record vital signs, symptoms and conditions of residents
• Initiate health measures where appropriate
• Assure observance with required techniques in nursing care
• Prepare, implement, review and evaluate the resident's plan of care
• Participate in scheduled and required assessment process
• Monitor resident's health and notes any changes in conditions appropriately
• Initiate appropriate nursing interventions
• Responsible for resident safety
• Assess need for referral to physicians or other disciplines
• Administer medications as required
• Support RPN's in their roles
• Monitor safekeeping of drugs and narcotics
• Implement established policies, procedures and regulations
• Participate in Nursing Restorative Programs
• Maintain competency
• Implement vision for resident care and services supporting GPA approach to resident care
• Participate in the quality assurance process and on-going activities
• Maintain resident records in compliance with established standards and legislative requirements
• Participate in quality assurance meetings
• Advise on resident care needs utilizing the quality assurance model
• Keep informed and current on changes to Health and Safety
• Follow all Health and Safety and safe work practices and guidelines
• Identify and correct inappropriate work practices which may affect the Health and Safety of co-workers
• Display an attitude that is focused on working safely and ensuring that the work environment is safe and healthy
• Use safe work practices
• Report any actual or potential hazard to the immediate supervisor
• Use or wear personal protective equipment (or clothing) as required
• Be involved in infection prevention and control in the home including the utilization of Infection Control Surveillance Program on Point Click Care
• Promptly report personal injury to supervisor and seeks first aid as needed
• Participate in fire safety activities and knows the facility fire and disaster plan
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area
• Do not use or operate any equipment in a way that would endanger any worker, resident or visitor
• Support wellness for residents and employees
• Comply with WSIB company policies and procedures
• Report any incident immediately to supervisor
• Cooperate with the Return to Work program as identified by WSIB legislation
• Comply with all computer confidentiality requirements
• Report function inconsistencies immediately to supervisor
• Participate in the orientation and training of new personnel and students
• Participate in in-service education
• Attend in-service education to maintain professional competency
• Attend all mandatory education as provided by company
• Maintain up to date reflective practice requirements
• Pursue on-going learning
• Participate in committees/teams/task forces as required
• Act as a liaison with physicians, supervisors, other departments, government inspectors, consultants, social workers, clergy, relative or representatives to ensure appropriate resident care
• Provide guidance and direction to nursing and personal care staff as directed by the Director of Care
• Monitor the performance of nursing and personal care staff as directed by the Director of Care
• Refer all nursing and personal care staff personnel issues to the Director of Care
• Organize and direct functions and activities related to the provision of resident care
• Delegate clinical and administrative responsibilities to the appropriate staff
• Monitor/oversee nursing and personal care staff documentation/reporting responsibilities
• Assist in ensuring an appropriate staffing pattern is maintained by utilizing appropriate company policies, procedures in accordance with the collective agreement or appropriate committee
• Ensure the availability of nursing supplies
• Ensure maintenance of equipment
• Facilitate the admission and discharge process
• Perform other related functions as directed by supervisor
• Functions under general guidance
• Directs and monitors nursing and personal care staff
• Provides direction and leadership to subordinates
• Access to highly confidential information
• Acts on the direction of physician's orders and prescribed standards
• Access to PointClickCare

**Education and Experience:**

• Current certificate of competency from the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing
• Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Must maintain competencies as per the governing College standards
• Experience in Long-Term Care considered an asset
• Experience working with seniors and unregulated care providers
• Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care an asset
• Must possess strong written and oral communication, critical thinking, care coordination, time management and customer focus skills
• Must have demonstrated sound clinical knowledge and ability to delegate to unregulated care providers
• Skills in use of computer and Microsoft Office applications
