About the project: First Nations Child and Family Services and Jordan's Principle Settlement On October 24, 2023, the Federal Court approved the Settlement Agreement for the First Nations Child and Family Services and Jordan's Principle (FNCFSJP) Class Action (the Settlement).

The Settlement Agreement includes $23.34 billion in compensation for impacted First Nations individuals and some of their family members.

This agreement intends to compensate those harmed by discriminatory underfunding of the First Nations Child and Family Services program and those impacted by the federal government's narrow interpretation of Jordan's Principle.

The Caregiving Parents or the Caregiving Grandparents of children who were removed from their homes or denied access to an essential service may also be able to receive compensation Castlemain's role in implementing the FNCFSJP Settlement – Claims Helper Program is to assist the Claims Administrator in providing claim form assistance to Class Members in the Claims Process as outlined in the Settlement Agreement Schedule I, Framework for Supports for Claimants in Compensation Process in a culturally safe and trauma informed way.

Our guiding purpose is to provide compassionate and skillful Claim Form assistance to Class Members.

We offer practical support by helping with the completion of Claim Forms, providing information to help Claimants understand the details of the Settlement and Claims Process, and fostering supportive interactions with Claimants throughout.

Furthermore, we are dedicated to ensuring that Claimants are well-informed about the wellness support and resources available to them.

About the Role Reporting to the Claims Helper Program Communications Director, the Communications Associate provides support to the Claims Helpers and the corporate communications team to ensure the execution of community and Claimant communications aligns with the overall strategy as it evolves.

The Associate supports Claims Helpers by developing tailored communications materials, supporting external and internal communications, and participating in issues management processes for the First Nations Child and Family Services and Jordan's Principle Settlement.


Responsibilities will include:

Implementing communications strategies and support Claims Helpers as they promote the Settlement and support Claimants – including the development of supporting materials and coordinating new messaging where required.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Communications, Claims Helper Program, and organizational Delivery teams. Interpreting and recommending courses of action based on data trends (media, social, contact centre) for continuous improvement. Participating in issues management processes – advising corporate communications about on-the-ground experiences and executing response strategies. Supporting implementation of the internal communications strategy to keep Claims Helpers informed of organizational, program, or project-related updates.

Keeping up to date on industry trends, insights, topics, and best practices while assisting in the development and implementation of communications solutions as appropriate.

Incorporating cultural sensitivity and a trauma-informed perspective into all planning and execution, acknowledging and respecting the diverse traditions and values of First Nations communities.

Engaging in other duties as assigned.

We're looking for someone with:
3-5+ years of experience in communications.

A degree, diploma, certificate in corporate communications, public relations, marketing communications, business communications, or journalism – equivalent education and experience will be considered.

A strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture, history, and the impacts of trauma and intergenerational trauma. Experience working with or for First Nations communities and organizations. Exceptional writing and editing skills. Experience executing communication strategies and developing supporting materials, such as messaging, PowerPoints, web content, social posts, and more. Experience with media and social media monitoring and performance measurement to identify trends, issues, and opportunities.

The ability to meet tight timelines and implement projects with high attention to detail in a fast-paced, often pressured environment.

The flexibility to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.

Additional Considerations:
Some experience in media relations. Experience with social media, developing protocols for community management and content for various channels and media types. Excellence at problem-solving and critical thinking with an aptitude for identifying potential challenges and proactively suggesting solutions. Experience with social media management software, such as Hootsuite, Meltwater Engage, or other social listening tools. Ability to travel across Canada.

Self-identifying as Indigenous and/or having first-hand knowledge or experience living in and/or working with an Indigenous community will be considered an asset.

Le rôle de Castlemain dans la mise en œuvre du règlement SEFPNPJ – Programme des agents de soutien aux réclamations est d'aider l'administrateur des réclamations à fournir une aide relative aux formulaires de réclamation aux membres du recours collectif dans le cadre du processus de réclamation, comme cela est énoncé à l'annexe I de l'entente de règlement, Cadre visant les services de soutien offerts aux réclamants dans le cadre du processus d'indemnisation, de manière appropriée sur le plan culturel et tenant compte des traumatismes.

Notre objectif principal est de fournir aux membres du recours collectif une assistance compatissante et compétente en ce qui concerne les formulaires de demande d'indemnisation.

Nous offrons un soutien pratique en aidant à remplir les formulaires de réclamation, en fournissant des informations pour aider les réclamants à comprendre les détails du règlement et du processus de réclamation, et en favorisant des interactions de soutien avec les réclamants tout au long du processus.

De plus, nous sommes déterminés à faire en sorte que les réclamants soient bien informés au sujet des mesures d'aide et des ressources en matière de bien-être à leur disposition.


À propos du rôle :

Sous la responsabilité du directeur des communications du programme des agents de soutien aux réclamations, l'associé en communications apporte son aide aux agents de soutien aux réclamations et à l'équipe des communications de l'entreprise pour veiller à ce que l'exécution des communications avec la communauté et les réclamants s'aligne sur la stratégie globale au fur et à mesure de son évolution.

L'associé soutient les agents de soutien aux réclamations en élaborant des documents de communication sur mesure, en appuyant les communications externes et internes et en participant aux processus de gestion des enjeux pour le règlement relatif aux services à l'enfance et à la famille des Premières nations et au principe de Jordan.


Les responsabilités sont les suivantes :

Mettre en œuvre des stratégies de communication et soutenir les préposés aux demandes d'indemnisation dans leur travail de promotion du règlement et de soutien aux demandeurs, notamment en élaborant des documents d'appui et en coordonnant de nouveaux messages, le cas échéant.

Travailler en collaboration avec les collègues des équipes de communication, du programme des agents de soutien aux réclamations et de la prestation organisationnelle.

Interpréter et recommander des plans d'action basés sur les tendances des données (médias, sociales, centre de contact) en vue d'une amélioration continue.

Participer aux processus de gestion des problèmes - en conseillant également les services de communication de l'entreprise sur les expériences sur le terrain et en exécutant des stratégies de réponse.

Soutenir la mise en œuvre de la stratégie de communication interne afin de tenir les agents de soutien aux réclamations informés des mises à jour relatives à l'organisation, aux programmes ou aux projets.

Se tenir au courant des tendances, des idées, des sujets et des pratiques exemplaires du secteur et contribuer à l'élaboration et à la mise en œuvre de solutions de communication, le cas échéant.

Intégrer une sensibilité culturelle et une perspective tenant compte des traumatismes dans toute la planification et l'exécution, en reconnaissant et en respectant les diverses traditions et valeurs des communautés des Premières Nations.

Nous recherchons une personne qui possède :3 à 5 ans d'expérience dans le domaine de la communication.

un diplôme ou un certificat en communication d'entreprise, relations publiques, communication marketing, communication commerciale ou journalisme - une formation et une expérience équivalentes seront prises en considération.

une connaissance approfondie et sensibilisation à la culture et à l'histoire autochtones, ainsi qu'aux conséquences des traumatismes et des traumatismes intergénérationnels.

une expérience de travail avec ou pour des communautés et des organisations des Premières nations. des compétences exceptionnelles en matière de rédaction et d'édition.

une expérience de la mise en œuvre de stratégies de communication et de l'élaboration de documents d'appui, tels que des messages, des présentations PowerPoint, du contenu Web, des messages sociaux, etc.
