Position Summary

Interior Health is hiring a Manager, Intelligent Automation on a full time permanent basis. This position has a flexible work location within British Columbia (Ideally the Interior Health region).

Salary range:
Salary range for the position is $106,026 to $152,413. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.

Job summary:
In accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, the Manager, Intelligent Automation is responsible for defining the vision, definition, strategy, and standards of practice for the Intelligent Automation teams. This includes working with business units to translate business requirements into specifications that will be used in the development of automated solutions to improve business operations and gain efficiencies across the organization. The Manager will plan and coordinate the execution of strategic projects which deliver long-term, mission-critical information and software systems as well as automation systems, leveraging Robotic Process Automation technologies, for Interior Health (IH) and the province as a whole. The Manager will be responsible for clarifying customer requirements, providing consultation on alternative solutions, facilitating the resolution of issues, finding efficiencies that will benefit the organization, and balancing the availability of Intelligent Automation resources-based demands of the organization.

Typical duties and responsibilities:
ProvincialDevelops project budgets for new initiatives, with both an IH and/or a provincial focus.Plans and manages intra-Health Authority system and data Automation implementations.Coordinates and assists other HAs' implementations of application systems developed within IH by this team.Represents IH in the Digital Health community by liaising with the BC Ministry of Health, other organizations, software vendors, and on various internal and external committees.Participates in provincial governance committees and working groups to develop standards and set direction.
IH and Digital Health customers (all other HAs, Physicians, P3 partners, etc.)Develops strategic and tactical plans, goals, and objectives relating to Intelligent AutomationDevelops policies, standards, best practices, and processes related to Intelligent AutomationResponsible for quality assurance activities to ensure high quality solutions, avoid rework, and allow cross-HA implementations.Researches and monitors technology trends such as emerging standards for new technology opportunities in support of IH and Intelligent Automation imperatives.Responsible and accountable for the development and deployment of new applications, systems software, and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout the enterprise including:Developing, negotiating, and managing consultant contracts as required.Building and leading teams, contractors, and third-party vendors.Ensuring that projects meet business requirements and goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and support IH's overall vision and mission.Providing architectural and technical guidance to project managers and programmers.Identifying and resolving complex and/or sensitive system or team issues.Reviewing and analyzing existing application code effectiveness and efficiency and then developing strategies for improving or leveraging these systems.Delivering finished, high quality, and effective software products.Responsible for leading RPA efforts through collaboration with process owners to identify process automation opportunities and determine feasibility of automation.Establishes and Leads the RPA Center of Excellence by providing education, best practices, standards, and resources to deliver a successful RPA program.Responsible for RPA lifecycle management including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and support of automation solutions.Provides leadership, direction, and supervision to assigned team members, contractors, and third-party vendors, utilizing effective management activities such as coaching, mentoring, skills and leadership development, and performance management. Responsible for the appropriate allocation and management of resources. Identifies and implements continuing education programs to maintain a high level of competence within the units.Coordinates feasibility studies for software and system products under consideration for purchase and gives advice based on findings.Manages daily operational systems, including scarce resource allocation, budget management, project status reporting, metrics generation, work request management matching requests to skill sets, deadline management, existing system support/maintenance/upgrades, third party contractor management, and prioritization.In alignment with IH's Occupational Health & Safety Program, maintain a healthy and safe work environment through complying with and implementing applicable Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, responding to requests from WSBC, identifying hazards and communicating risks, ensuring compliance with employee training, conducting effective incident investigations, and implementing required corrective actions.Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Training, and ExperienceBaccalaureate Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a similar fieldMinimum 7 years' experience in managing a complex business environment (preferably healthcare) including responsibilities for project management, structured systems development, information management, staff development, and supervision across geographically dispersed sites.Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Skills and AbilitiesSolid customer, vendor, and consultant relationship management and performance management skills.Strong customer service orientation.Proven analytical, problem-solving and time management abilities.Demonstrated ability for developing, engaging, leading, and mentoring people/teams with integrity and trust.Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels of the organization and at a provincial level.Possessing political awareness in the health care environment.Demonstrated ability to plan, lead, direct, and control projects and project teams in a large, complex organization.Experience in facilitating multi-disciplined workshops to develop solutions to problems and/or consensus on new processes.Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a highly dynamic, fast paced, continually changing environment.Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
