Senior Accountant

The senior accountant will support the financial closing and financial operation & controlling process for various functions of the Canadian Branch, assuring month-end and year-end closings in compliance with group and company policies and procedures.

Based in Mississauga, ON

Responsibilities

Coordinate, support and assist in the following key responsibilities:

Account Receivable

• Coding cheques, Prepare bank deposits, Mail customer cheques to Lockbox, Provide documents to Shelton, CT

Account Payable

Streamline payment processes with local partners: government, customs, airport, vendors.

  • Manual/Excel cheque book management and printing.
  • VIM management.
  • Code invoices for entry and workflow routing.
  • Key point of contact for invoice coding.
  • Monitor accruals.
  • Supervise NSPO process for all RCI functions.

FP&A local support

  • Support the financial outlook of RCI functions (actuals, budget, forecasts, variances)
  • Facilitate monthly close process: collaboration with business partners, ensure respect of deadlines, ensure data accuracy.
  • Track CAPEX spending by project. Identify and communicate potential issues.
  • Support preparation of monthly reporting, track key performance metrics, assist management in budget preparation.

Specific support to Operational Functions

  • Proforma Invoices
  • Inventory Reconciliation
  • Destruction
  • Pending Credits for Returns
  • Support financial presentations as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or other relevant field.
  • 2-4 years of accounting, financial planning &analysis, financial experience, preferably in a corporate environment

Technical skills / abilities:

  • Background in accounting and finance principles.
  • Experience in SAP ERP platform.
  • Strong PC skills, including knowledge of MS-Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables), PowerPoint. Power BI and SAP Analytics Cloud helpful.
  • Good understanding of financial systems (P&L, Cash Flow, Balance Sheet analysis).

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in the English language; proficiency in French (an asset)
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Well organized, and able to work independently
  • Strong analytical skills with a high level of integrity
  • Great attention to detail
  • Ability to be proactive, problem-solving and adapt to change
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team player; comfortable taking on big and small tasks alike
