The Division of Hematology (Ottawa Blood Disease Centre) at The Ottawa Hospital is experiencing significant clinical and academic growth. We are seeking two hematologists to join in our expansion and to lead in clinical care, education and research as full-time faculty members.The Ottawa Blood Disease Centre is a large group of 41 faculty that work within a group practice plan model within the University of Ottawa and The Ottawa Hospital academic centre. The Division has three well-defined and successful clinical and research programs: Malignant Hematology, Thrombosis and Benign Hematology.

The 20+ faculty members in The Malignant Hematology, Transplant and Cellular Therapy programs work within well-defined and integrated clinical and research groups, with a variety of academic pursuits.

The Lymphoproliferative Disease Group is looking to enhance academic productivity to complement the existing excellent clinical program and academic activities. To facilitate this, we are recruiting 2 academically focused early or mid-career lymphoma hematologists who are looking for the opportunity to join a supportive group with 50% protected time for academic pursuits. Anticipated start time is summer 2025 to coincide with other faculty transitions. This timing could coincide with fellows completing their lymphoma fellowship, and interested trainees are encouraged to apply.

The lymphoproliferative group currently consists of 6 faculty who see >600 new lymphoma and CLL patients per year, offers a clinical lymphoma fellowship program, and conducts a mix of clinical research activities. The Lymphoproliferative Disease Group partners with the Transplant and Cell Therapy program to provide hematopoietic cell transplants and immune effector cell therapies, with both commercial and research product activity. All faculty in the Malignant Hematology Program are co-located at the General Campus of The Ottawa Hospital.

In addition to the resources available within the Division of Hematology which include a Clinical Research Office, the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute houses experts in broad areas of clinical epidemiology, statistical support, transfusion medicine research, patient decision making, knowledge translation. The successful candidate will be supported and mentored to pursue a mutually agreed area of clinical research or quality improvement that fits their interests.

Qualifications

• Hematologist with expertise in lymphoproliferative diseases.
• Interest and training in keeping with an academic position that includes enhanced protected time for research or quality improvement.
• Eligible for licensure in Ontario
• Bilingualism (French and English) an asset
