Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking an ENGINEERING CHANGE MANAGER. The Engineering Change Manager will manage engineering Change on the CSC Program and will act as the single point of contact within engineering, working cross-functionally to drive engineering change through the Program's end-to-end process. Managing the complexities of engineering change effectively is a business-critical element, aligned to achieving the required design maturity to enable cut-steel and the continued efficient production of CSC against a defined baseline.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree or Diploma; Engineering discipline an advantage
    • P. Eng Designation an asset
    • Formal qualification in project management an asset
  • Experience: 5+ years experience in an engineering or project management role leading a specific workstream.
  • Experience working on naval ship new build projects
  • Track record of working successfully in collaboration with many stakeholders across the enterprise

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages all engineering changes for the CSC Project.
  • Conduct daily management of Engineering Change from inception to technical authorization by providing guidance, driving adherence to established processes, actively tracking status, driving progress, and removing roadblocks.
  • Develop and maintain robust links and communication with all Engineering stakeholders to understand and prioritize changes via a regular Engineering change forum.
  • Represents the Design and Engineering Team at the CSC Change Triage Boards.
  • Represent the Design and Engineering Team at the CSC Change Triage Boards presenting changes alongside the Enterprise Capability Lead or Subject Matter Expert to ensure change progresses effectively.
  • Develops metrics to report on change to the senior leadership.
  • Provide Senior Engineering Management with an end-to-end view of the status of Engineering Change by producing metrics and identifying problem areas and issues for senior escalation.
  • Works to continuously improve the change process.
  • As a key stakeholder of the Change process, influence the process owner to streamline and improve the process with a view to reducing the overall time taken to execute the change to meet business demand.
  • Work closely with the ISI Program function and hold stakeholders to account to ensure Change is progressing beyond technical authorization in a timely manner.
  • Develop an integrated mechanism to capture changes raised during production, enabling prompt decision making and progression, providing the connection between CSC and established shipyard processes.
