About the BCLDB:

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government that provide oversight for the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in the province. The LDB is responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis, and operates the retails brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores.

Corporate Strategic Services (CSS) plays a critical role in supporting the entire organization. Comprised of Corporate Communications and Stakeholder Relations, Policy and Information, Privacy and Access Services, Sourcing and Vendor Performance, Strategy & Business Transformation and the Project Management Office, CSS is driven by customer-service and taking action to advise, consult and support each business area throughout the LDB.

The CSS team is comprised of approximately 50 staff. What brings CSS together as a team is the ability to work together to support both the operational areas of the business and other support areas (e.g. Corporate Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology). The group has a strategic lens with a focus on ensuring the organization aligns and complies with corporate priorities, policies, legislation, best practices, and government mandate.

About this role:

Under the general guidance of the Director of Strategy and Business Transformation, the Advisor, Environmental Initiatives, working with professional and technical personnel, will champion the development and implementation of the ongoing environmental program developed as part of the LDB's overarching Social Impact Strategy.

As part of the LDB's environmental program, the Advisor will also continue to develop and implement the LDB Action Plan on Energy Efficiency and Climate Change, conducting comprehensive analyses, producing reports on environmental trends and sustaining and producing programs in greenhouse gas mitigation and adaptation strategies for the LDB. Program development led by this position must be responsive to the unique issues and needs of the evolving LDB supply chain.

Special requirements and working conditions include the ability to travel overnight within the Province of British Columbia. A successful completion of a criminal record check is required.

Position requirements:

Education and Experience:

Degree or diploma in environmental management, environmental sciences, social sciences or a related discipline and a minimum of 3 years of recent, related experience*.

OR

A secondary (high) school diploma or equivalent certification with a minimum of 5 years of recent, related experience*.

*Recent, related experience must have occurred in the last 6 years and must include the following:

  • Experience providing senior administrative support and analysis on process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience developing, managing and directing environmental programs, preferably for a large-scale retail/wholesale organization.
  • Experience establishing environmental priorities and developing strategies for an organization.
