What can I expect to do in this role?In this role, you will produce a variety of signs by:

  • Manufacturing silk screen process frames and cutting profilm for silk screen process printing.
  • Setting up silk screen using the knowledge of different inks used on various reflective and non-reflective materials.
  • Mixing and applying different paints and primers to metal, plywood and aluminium blanks.
  • Operating a computerized sign-maker machine.
  • Applying sheeting materials to signs by various methods.
  • Assembling and applying messages to extruded signs.
How do I qualify?Technical Knowledge and Skills:

  • You have skills in Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel and the ability to complete reports (such as Employee and Equipment time sheets, Work Reports, Accident Reports, Diary, etc.).
  • You have knowledge of the Traffic Control Manual for Roadway Work Operations and the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
  • You have knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Essential Skills:

  • You have demonstrated coordination and dexterity to perform a variety of sign-manufacturing tasks.
  • You are able to use a variety of hand-powered tools, table saws, and drill presses.
  • You have the ability to follow and interpret sign layouts, and written and verbal instructions.
  • You have oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • You have the ability to work in a team environment, with minimum supervision and complete daily worksheets, often with tight deadlines.
