We are seeking a highly skilled Social Planner I to support the implementation of the City of Vancouver's Healthy City Strategy and Downtown Eastside Plan. The successful candidate will have experience working with marginalized communities and will be able to develop and foster partnerships to create employment and income generating opportunities.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and foster partnerships to create employment and income generating opportunities for residents from equity denied communities.
- Participate in and facilitate community and stakeholder engagement processes related to the implementation of the City's Community Economic Development Strategy.
- Undertake technical research and data analysis to support the development and implementation of relevant strategies.
- Prepare and contribute to the development of policy, departmental responses, reports, and recommendations on community economic development issues.
- Project manage City initiatives that leverage partnerships with key stakeholders.
- A Master's or Bachelor's degree in social planning, community development, or a related field.
- Experience working with people with lived or living experiences of mental health, substance use, and/or poverty.
- Considerable knowledge of the social determinants of health and social policy.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Ability to reconcile differing perspectives and develop consensus.
- Ability to build positive working relationships and community networks.
