Job Title: Geomatics Project Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled Geomatics Project Lead to join our team at Ombudsman Ontario. As a key member of our Business Intelligence and Data Analytics team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing geomatics strategies to improve business services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, design, develop, and coordinate the implementation of geomatics projects, including data analysis, GIS, and web-based application development.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to resolve issues and monitor work to meet deadlines and standards.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships and partnerships to meet clients' needs.
  • Develop and apply technical design to improve modeling, statistics, GIS/BI, and other tools to enhance analysis and reporting.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with common office software, specialized software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, ArcGIS), and geomatics tools.
  • Experience using geographical information systems, data models, data analysis, and geographic information systems tools to lead multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Experience using modeling and statistical analysis tools, techniques, and software, technology changes in these fields, spatial/tabular data, and web development concepts.
  • Knowledge of geomatics to support client needs and spatial data, and GIS principles, methodologies, mechanisms, and techniques.
  • Experience using relational database standards, concepts, and models.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Project management skills to prioritize and multi-task, create project outlines and proposals, direct project resources, scope, assess organizational impacts, and make recommendations.
  • Consultative and collaboration skills to advise clients, staff, and stakeholders on tools/techniques and reporting strategies, provide technical direction, support, and participate on committees and working groups.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills to develop procedures/tools to implement initiatives, manage data access, data quality, and integration issues, resolve problems affecting concurrent initiatives/projects, and assess industry best practices and user needs.
