About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering & Projects Department in Port Colborne, Ontario. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing design engineering services for the Port Colborne Refinery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of design personnel to complete engineering designs
  • Ensure adherence to scope, schedule, budget, codes and standards
  • Own responsibility of integrity for designs produced under your technical direction and legally approve and seal designs and drawings
  • Provide technical direction for complex engineering designs within your area of expertise
  • Conduct internal engineering studies and provide inputs to consultants on external engineering studies
  • Conduct field inspections, prepare field sketches, and prepare relevant reports
  • Participate in the review of construction, commissioning and start up functions
  • Apply sound engineering knowledge and exercise leadership, mentoring and training to other design personnel
  • Coordinate and review work of engineering consultants designs and specifications for assigned projects
About You

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in mechanical engineering and design. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Undergraduate diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Designation Required (P.Eng.) – Province of Ontario Preferred
  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in mechanical design engineering
  • Experience in mechanical design for multi-disciplined projects
  • Experience in conceptual and detailed mechanical design of systems relevant to the refining industry
  • Experience in piping and pumping design
  • Experience in mechanical equipment inspections
  • Experience in planning and estimating
  • Experience in leading multi-disciplinary design teams
  • Experience in writing equipment and construction specifications
