Description

Under the direction of the Bailey House Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing resident support services, on-site supervision, and security. This includes:

  • Assisting residents with personal care concerns
  • Providing residents with supplies as required
  • Assisting residents with forms and requests as required
  • Interacting and communicating positively with residents
  • Assisting Caseworkers as required
  • Ensuring personal safety and responding to medical emergencies
  • Documenting resident information and maintaining accurate records
  • Providing administrative support, including documentation, report writing, and reception duties
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides resident support services while on shift
  • Provides site management and security throughout the shift
  • Provides administrative support while on shift
  • Utilizes the facility and its equipment in a safe and efficient manner
Qualifications and Education Requirements:

We are seeking an individual with:

  • Post-Secondary Education or related experience in Social Services
  • High School Graduate
  • First Aid certification
  • Verbal Judo and/or NVCI certification
  • Suicide Intervention certification
  • WHMIS certification
  • Mental Health First Aid certification
  • A clear Criminal Record Check
Preferred Skills/Capabilities:
  • Ability to work within the mandate of and embrace the mission of The Salvation Army
  • Effective interpersonal communication in English, both written and oral
  • Effective assessment, observation, and recording skills
  • Ability to work within a teamwork structure, though will be required to work alone
  • Effective interviewing skills
  • Understanding of Aboriginal and Inuit Cultures, Addictions, Mental Health, and other social issues
  • Computer skills are required
Working Conditions:

The work environment can be fast-paced and demanding. The need to be constantly aware of the environment and the movements and attitudes of the individual clients can be stressful. There is a potential to work with aggressive, high-risk clients in this position.
