Job Description

The Personal Support Worker is a vital member of the inter-professional care team, responsible for providing high-quality patient care and support. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting patients with activities of daily living, such as feeding, bathing, and toileting
  • Performing tasks delegated by registered nurses or registered practical nurses, in compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines
  • Communicating effectively with patients and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care delivery
  • Identifying and reporting safety concerns, such as equipment malfunctions or patient behavioral changes
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records and progress notes
Requirements
  • Successful completion of a Personal Support Worker program from an accredited community college
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate
  • Behavioral management training, such as PIECES or U-First, is considered an asset
  • Ability to handle daily physical demands, including standing, walking, and lifting
  • Acute care and/or previous rehabilitation experience is considered an asset
  • Good attendance record and ability to work collaboratively as part of a healthcare team
