About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled GIS Technician to join our Distribution System Operations team at NB Power. As a GIS Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe operation of our grid by accurately and timely updating our Customer Service GIS database.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance on NB Power's Electrical Geodatabase data, ensuring topological and attribution requirements are met.
  • Conduct Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) of datasets, identifying issues and using GIS scripts and tools to resolve them.
  • Follow established data flow, enforcing GIS standards and complying with corporate safety, health, and environmental rules.
  • Participate in development and testing of interfaces, documenting items/issues for future projects.
Requirements
  • Diploma in Geomatics Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Geomatics, or GIS.
  • Three years of related GIS work experience, including ESRI ArcGIS Suite 10.6 or higher, software configuration, QA/QC of data, and working with Enterprise Geodatabases.
  • Professional designation (e.g., GISP, P.Eng) or experience with Utility Network, ArcFM, or Advanced Distribution Systems (OSI software) is an asset.
