About the Role:

Mainframe Studios is seeking a highly skilled FX Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our visual effects department, you will be responsible for overseeing the development of FX tools and rigs, creating the project's FX style and technique, and collaborating with other departments to ensure the successful and efficient delivery of FX, lighting, and rendering requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • FX Tool Development: Oversees the development of FX tools and rigs to be used by the FX department.
  • FX Style and Technique: Creates the project's FX style and technique, working closely with other departments to ensure the behavioural consistency of FX in relation to character, props, and environment set ups.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborates with creative leads and CG Supervisor to ensure all FX, lighting, and rendering requirements are successfully and efficiently met within the project's timeline and fiscal parameters.
  • Documentation and Support: Provides support and documentation for tools created.
  • Team Leadership: Provides vision, feedback, motivation, and encouragement to the team.

Requirements:

  • Experience: At least 2-3 high-quality animated series.
  • FX Design and Technique: Expertise in developing FX designs and techniques per project's art direction requirements.
  • 3D Animation and Visual Effects: Superior level understanding of 3D animation, texturing, modeling, lighting, and compositing.
  • Software Proficiency: Superior level of proficiency in using Maya and Nuke for particle simulations, expressions, soft body, rigid body, and cloth dynamics.
  • Leadership and Management: Proven abilities to oversee FX Department and deliver all shots per project specs.

Education and Experience:

  • Degree or diploma in fine arts or animation or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience working in a professional environment within their discipline.
