Intermediate Underwriter

We're seeking an experienced Commercial Underwriter to join our team in Surrey, BC. As an Intermediate Underwriter, you will play a key role in evaluating and managing risk for commercial insurance policies.

About the Role:

  • Underwrite risk and prepare quotes for a wide variety of policies by reviewing related information and determining the acceptability of commercial risks.
  • Build relationships with brokers and gather risk information to evaluate and manage degrees of risk involved with an insurance policy.
  • Utilize loss control and risk management practices in the underwriting process.
  • Establish an underwriting discipline to minimize exposure and appropriately price risks.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with brokers to enhance understanding of the target and contribute to high-quality service, problem-solving, and risk selection.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years' commercial underwriting experience.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of underwriting discipline and pricing models.
  • Sold communication skills with a natural ability to build trusting relationships.
  • Self-starter with highly developed attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical skills.
