Commissioning Engineer _ Mechanical

Engineering Search firm (ESF) is representing a privately owned Canadian Engineering firm authorized under the Certificate of Authority (C of A) issued by Professional Engineers Ontario since 2008. Our client is one of the leaders of Commissioning Services and HVAC System Optimization in large Institutional and Commercial Facilities. We are well known for creating innovative, value-based Energy Conservative Measures (ECM).

The focus of this role is to contribute to Commissioning and Re-Commissioning Services in institutional and mega commercial buildings.

As part of the Engineering team, you will be leading the commissioning and recommissioning of building systems including:

· HVAC System

· Building Automation System

· Lighting System

· Fire Alarm System, Emergency Lighting System and Fire Protection System · CCTV Security System and Access Control System

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Actively participate in project teams and collaborate with fellow team members to achieve success

. Lead the process of commissioning in new construction projects from design phase through construction, occupancy and post occupancy phases.

· Lead the process of commissioning in existing buildings, perform building systems assessment and investigation along with performance verification on assigned projects

· Prepare the Commissioning Reports

· Demonstrate initiative to work independently with the ability to meet deadlines within a stressful environment.

· As a professional, have in depth knowledge of HVAC fundamentals, related systems, equipment, and controls

· Have knowledge of ASHRAE standards and guidelines related to Building Commissioning

· Coordinate with project managers, senior engineers and clients to precisely understand the project requirements in order to fulfill each project-specific goals

· Able to convene the commissioning meetings, taking notes and issuing the minutes

· Proficient in using and working on mechanical drawings, control and electrical diagrams

. Review the Building Mechanical, Electrical and Control drawings/diagrams and provide comments to assure the Owner's Project Requirement (OPR) is fulfilled.

. Review the Building Mechanical and Control drawings/diagrams in order to enhance the building energy behavior, operation and maintenance.

· Provide professional solutions and identify feasible Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) for HVAC and lighting systems.

· Calculate Energy Savings by implementing Energy Conservation Measures and from there calculating Payback Period

· Observe safety to the highest standards and maintains security and accountability of company issued and procured assets

· Broad knowledge of Building Automation Systems and related sequence of control for different building systems

· Having expert knowledge and being hands on with least one building energy modeling software

· Displays team effort and dedication to customer by maintaining the flexibility to work overtime and weekends as the business requires, including occasional overnight stays.

· Proven experience with measurement and verification methods

. Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently

· Able to travel out of GTA and potential stay for few days in remote projects · Effective and fluent oral and writing skills to communicate with clients and colleagues · Have expert knowledge and be hands-on in using Word, Excel, AutoCad, AdobePro · Experience with HAP load calculation and energy analysis software

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Professional Engineers of Ontario (P.Eng)

· LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP)

· Certified Building Commissioning Professional from BCxA or AEE · Certified RetScreen Expert (CRE)

· Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP)
