Role Description

The Senior Estimator will develop and execute the steel scope on complex projects in the ICI, infrastructure repair and design-build markets. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing innovative and competitive approaches to execute the steel scope;
  • Creating optimized and detailed plans for the execution of the scope of work;
  • Collaborating with stakeholders and industry experts to minimize potential risks and uncertainties;
  • Developing deep relationships with industry partners and suppliers;
  • Mentoring and supporting the team of Estimators.

Responsibilities

  • Working on interesting and meaningful projects;
  • Applying a strong sense of constructability towards solving problems;
  • Assessing factors such as design complexity, site conditions, procurement challenges, and labor productivity to anticipate risks;
  • Evaluating different materials, construction methods, and design alternatives to improve efficiency.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a natural problem-solver and people-person who enjoys developing trusting relationships with stakeholders in the industry. Key qualifications include:

  • A deep understanding of construction processes, means and methods;
  • Effective problem-solving skills;
  • 10+ years of relevant estimating experience in the construction industry;
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline (i.e., Engineering), or a combination of education and relevant industry experience;
  • Excellent working knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, under tight timelines, in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong communication and leadership skills (verbal and written).
