The Enterprise Architect at AFSC plays a pivotal role in transforming business and technology strategies into comprehensive architectures and future-oriented plans. Utilizing their extensive knowledge and experience they will be establishing, implementing, and managing the four main disciplines of Architecture (Data, Technology, Applications and Business) that will help shape the technological roadmap and address complex challenges across the organization.

The Enterprise Architect will work closely with key stakeholders to understand business objectives and design a technology portfolio that optimally supports the entire enterprise. The Enterprise Architect role is not only professional and strategic but also highly engaging. What will you be responsible for?

  • Strategically contributing to AFSC's technology plans is a central responsibility. This involves taking the lead in developing and implementing a technology roadmap practice that seamlessly integrates strategic objectives, addresses capability gaps/debt, mitigates technological disruptions, and the enables the health of AFSC's technology portfolio. The primary task is leading the creation of universal technology standards and target state architectures. This will empower our teams to deliver in a manner that is consistent and aligned with the strategic objectives of the organization.
  • In terms of cloud computing, a key responsibility is to continuously maintain and govern the enterprise cloud strategy. This will ensure that we are positioned to capitalize on new opportunities and disruptive technologies across all areas of cloud computing, including SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS.
  • Support AFSC's Enterprise Information Management Program.
  • This role requires experience in work management, content management, and collaboration services applications which will be used to establish and maintain the target state architecture and a roadmap for AFSC. It is anticipated this will involve the integration of Generative AI technology to enhance productivity and stimulate creativity.
  • This role and their team have the authority to review and decide on all technology introductions, consolidations, and removals across AFSC.
  • Finally, providing technology advisory services and defining the conceptual architecture for business initiatives supported by technology is a central part of this dynamic role.

What are we looking for from you?

  • Hands-on experience with establishing and maintaining an Architecture practice.
  • Hands-on knowledge of enterprise Architecture tools,
  • Experience with business requirements analysis, entity relationship planning, database design, reporting structures, etc.
  • Experience with platforms, including Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, Salesforce.
  • Confidence to make decisions and focus on continuous improvements.
  • Excellent business/user interaction skills to ensure requirements are met.
  • Accurately defines the key elements of complex, ambiguous situations.
  • Familiar with project management practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent
  • Over 15 years of overall IT experience, with at least 7 year in an Architect role (preferably as an Enterprise Architect)
  • Certifications in various architectural standards is required, ITIL certification is considered an asset.
  • Experience working in Public Sector \ Agri Insurance- Lending is considered an asset
  • Expertise in two or more specialized technology domains (e.g. infrastructure, application development, integration, data, ERP, collaboration, cloud computing, cybersecurity, etc.)
  • Architectural knowledge and extensive experience with full Microsoft 365 suite including Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Loop, Power Automate, Power Apps
  • Experience with productivity-enhancing Generative AI technologies like Microsoft Copilot and Chat GPT is considered an asset.
  • Experience with agile project management and work management solutions including JIRA, Azure DevOps Boards.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud technologies deployed at an enterprise scale.
  • Experience with Salesforce cloud technologies deployed at an enterprise scale.
  • Experience designing and implementing large-scale enterprise architectures.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and concise language for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strategic thinking to align technical solutions with business objectives.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with a talent for building strong relationships across the organization.
  • Extensive experience in various IT practices and disciplines including software development lifecycle, ITIL Service Management, data lifecycle management, portfolio and project management, and IT strategic planning.
  • Experience with Agile SCRUM and Kanban methodologies.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to AFSC's core values.
  • Driving required in the course of employment: Driving may be required in the course of employment.

For those not meeting the minimum education, additional related work experience will be deemed equivalent. Pro-active in continued professional and personal skill development is an ongoing expectation.
