The Mint is hiring Manufacturing Operators, Electroplating who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Plating, the Manufacturing Operator, Electroplating will be responsible to operate, adjust and maintain Plating facility machinery and related equipment, perform quality and material handling functions. Candidates must have availability to work 2x12-hour shift followed by 2-day off. This is a 12 hour day/night shift rotation, operating on a 24 hour basis, 7 days per week.

What is the plating process at the Mint? During the plating process, steel coin blanks are coated with nickel and copper plating. Using a series of furnaces to soften steel, Waste treatment systems to process waste plating solutions and machinery to manipulate steel blanks, the Mint Electroplating facility is the leader in Minting technology.

Qualifications:

Languages

  • English proficiency is essential.

Education

  • Successful completion of a Highschool diploma or equivalent or higher.
    Experience
  • 3 years of manufacturing experience preparing and operating equipment and conducting inspection
  • Waste water treatment experience considered an asset
  • Candidates must be detail oriented with high accuracy in their work product
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety Program

Additional Qualifications:

  • Ability to operate and prepare plating machinery and related equipment
  • Ability to set-up and operate vision-sorting equipment; to adjust and take corrective actions to ensure quality standards are met
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills to ensure consistency and collaboration with colleagues in the plating process
  • Promotes quality awareness and ability to understand safety and environmental aspects associated with working in a plating plant
  • Ability to conduct regular operator equipment inspection and maintenance tasks on Plating equipment as per equipment inspection task lists
  • Ability to measure and ensure chemical additions are maintained to sustain the plating line operation as advised. Communicate any abnormalities
  • Ability to conduct assignments in a safe manner respecting the environmental and security policy of the Mint
  • Ability to test, monitor, record and adjust waste water treatment solutions and rinses to legislative standards
  • Skills required to follow multiple activities, be observant and react quickly to problems
  • Ability to produce reports on equipment performance and product quality trends using approved application software
  • Assist in training by sharing information, and participate in continuous improvement activities as required

  • This opening is to be filled on a continuous operation and/or shift work basis onsite.
