Nanny Position Available
Hi there,
We are looking for a part time, live-out nanny starting September June 2025 in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. Days of work will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday 7:45am - 4:30pm.
We are hoping to find someone who loves to play with children and help them grow

Our family: My name is Marisa and my husband is Marcos. Our twin boys are Rafael and Benicio. They are 5.
I love kids and am a Speech Language Pathologist so my career was driven by my passion. (As life has turned out I actually work with adults now and enjoy helping them too) Marcos works in an oil-field based company in Wetaskiwin.

Position details:
- Taking care of my two boys who are 5 years old
- This position is live-out, September 2024- June 2025
- Daily hours 7:45am - 4:30pm
- Pay: $17/hour
- Personal transportation is ideal. Possibility of car seats in your vehicle.
- Our home will require play, light cleaning, meal prep and support of typical development for physical and social-emotional skills.

Family Schedule
- Rafael and Benicio attend kindergarten Tuesday and Thursday September through December. They will attend on Fridays from January to May 2025. In June they go back to Tuesday and Thursday. We can discuss the plans for Friday and options are available for January - May 2025.
- My hours at work are fairly reliable:
Monday-Friday I leave around 8:00am and am home at 4:30pm. I am hoping to spend some extra morning time at home with Rafael and Benicio on Wednesdays.
- Marcos leaves for work just before 8am and is home around 5pm

Get to know us: I have worked full time and part time since 2020. I have had two nannies and used one daycare. September February 2024 I took a break from work to be home with the boys more. My time at home was packed with play, learning activities, routine building, lots of meals, supporting emotional, physical, and social development, and endless snuggles. We all love being outside and head out to our back yard, front yard, the playground, or walks/bike rides almost daily.

We are a schedule oriented family. It will be important that you and I have open lines of communication so we can work together on any routines or schedules that aren't working for the kids.
Our initial nanny worked with us for 15 months, the boys then attended daycare (6 months full time, 14 months part time) and our most recent nanny has been with us for 4 months, then is headed to university in the fall.
I am comfortable problem solving together when challenges pop up or when anything isn't flowing well with your day.

Childcare education: I am passionate about supporting the caregiver of my boys and ensuring you have all the tools you need.
- I ask that you complete a (free-to-you) emotional development course for supporting young children that teaches some strategies for managing your day and challenging moments
- I will provide education about our approach to supporting a healthy relationship with food
- I have found the book "How to Talk so Little Kids Will Listen" by Joanna Faber and Julie King extremely helpful. Let me know if you want to go through their tools, or read the book.

I respect your experience with kids and will want to know your thoughts on how to adjust their days or respond to their actions to help them grow. I will want to be consistent on the weekends with things you find help them. If you have a different book or approach you've loved let me know I'd love to read it or look into it too Our top applicant would have previous child care experience and education, however, this isn't necessary to work with us. The most important aspect for caring for our boys is that you WANT to work with kids :) Please send me a message and expect a response within 3 days.
