We are a leading provider of school transportation services, operating in 460 locations across Canada. Our team of over 48,000 employees works with school districts to provide safe, reliable, and cost-effective transportation for five million students per school day.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a School Bus Monitor to join our team. As a Monitor, you will provide operational oversight and day-to-day management, assisting drivers in safe operation of routes. You will be responsible for monitoring the welfare of passengers, communicating with school personnel, students, and parents, and attending safety and training meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor the route and remain alert to the welfare of passengers while in route
- Communicate behavior problems and conditions of various stops with the driver
- Assist in pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus
- Assist students in the loading and unloading process
- Cooperate and communicate with school personnel, students, and parents
- Attend all safety and training meetings
- Conduct emergency evacuation from the bus, including use of exiting by emergency door
- Open and close service doors and move up and down steps multiple times daily
- Clean the inside of the bus
- Assist driver when necessary to safely direct the vehicle backwards
Requirements:
- Good verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Early morning availability
- Judgement/problem solving skills
- Ability to manage high degrees of stress
