About the Role- Supervise and support nursing and clerical staff to ensure exceptional patient care and efficient clinic operations.
- Collaborate with the Program Manager, nursing leadership team, and interdisciplinary team members to address unit and performance issues.
- Act as a clinical resource to nursing staff, students, and other team members, providing guidance on clinical practice issues and problem-solving.
- Monitor patient acuity and flow to ensure staffing levels meet patient and unit needs, making adjustments as necessary.
- Participate in the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of applicants, making recommendations to the Program Manager.
- Develop and deliver orientation programs to ensure a smooth transition for new staff members.
- Collaborate with the nursing leadership team and interdisciplinary team members to identify learning needs and implement educational strategies.
- Assist in promoting further education and mentoring staff on educational opportunities and conflict resolution strategies.
- Support the handling of employee relations issues, working with the Program Manager to resolve issues.
- Contribute to the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of program patient care standards and policies.
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing and three years of recent, tertiary experience in the clinical specialty of the Program, including one year of recent experience in a supervisory/leadership capacity.
- Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).
- Current CPR certification.
- Strong leadership skills and independent decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to develop, prioritize, and accomplish objectives.
- Proven conflict resolution skills.
- Supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
- Effective organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada.
