**Job Purpose:** * Provide support, supervision, and basic care to homeless seniors * Build positive relationships with participants while maintaining professional boundaries * Engage in counselling and crisis management as required * Monitor shelter guests' rights to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality **Key Responsibilities:** * Provide individualized support to participants addressing mental health challenges and addictions * Engage in 1-1 crisis counselling as required * Monitor and assist with meal and snack setup * Assist with new intakes, including providing tours and introducing policies and procedures * Organize storage units, perform light housekeeping, and assist with laundry * Work collaboratively with staff, management, and participants in a non-discriminatory manner * Ensure a safe, secure, clean, and comfortable environment for all * Accurately record day-to-day happenings and maintain data and incident reporting systems * Coordinate participant supports, perform pallet checks, and personal searches * Act as a positive role model and advocate for participants while maintaining confidentiality * Propose and assist in developing programming, education, and activities catering to participants' needs **Requirements:** * High School Diploma (or equivalent) * First Aid/CPR Certificate * Food Handler's Certificate * WHMIS Certificate * Other Certifications considered an asset * Experience working in the mental health field considered an asset * Experience working with a geriatric population considered an asset * Must provide a clear Criminal Background Check including a clear Vulnerable Sector Check **Essential Skills:** * Strong English language skills (oral and written) * Willingness to support volunteer and student placements * High degree of compassion, resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability * Strong sense of team ethics, dedication, and professionalism * Personable and creative, with a strong sense of company and conversation * Demonstrated knowledge of cultural competence * Ability to work with vulnerable people facing many challenges **Salary:** $43,000 **Work Schedule:** Rotational Work, Evening and/or Weekend work required
