Alberta Transportation has granted Aecon a $595 million contract for the Deerfoot Trail Improvements project in Calgary, Alberta. The construction involves the development of seven new bridges, additional lanes, and enhancements to ramps and interchanges, with a completion target set for fall 2027.

The Traffic Control Plan Designer has a crucial role in project planning. This dynamic position focuses on aiding in the creation of traffic control plans, construction sequences, and other highway design necessities for the Deerfoot Trail Improvement Project in Calgary, AB.

What You'll Do Here:

  • Design, coordinate, and implement traffic control plans in compliance with the Project Agreement's requirements concerning vehicular and pedestrian mobility during construction.
  • Collaborate with internal construction teams and subcontractors to refine construction and traffic staging strategies.
  • Manage the development, design, approval, and submission of various plans, including traffic control plans, and coordinate with the relevant authorities.
  • Oversee design services contracts for consultants, supervise work priorities, and liaise with internal communications for stakeholder notifications.
  • Participate in internal coordination meetings, provide project updates, review schedules, and attend team meetings as necessary.
  • Safety/Quality/Environment:
    • Promptly address issues, promote a proactive safety culture, prioritize quality improvements, ensure environmental compliance, and uphold subcontractor alignment with company values.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Civil and Transportation Engineering or a related field.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years' experience in the Construction industry.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk applications like Civil 3D/AutoCAD and Vehicle Tracking.
  • Demonstrate effective communication, Microsoft Office proficiency, problem-solving abilities, conflict resolution skills, and decision-making capabilities.
