ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The District of Lake Country's Lake Country Fire Department has an exciting opportunity for a permanent full-time Fire and Rescue Technician (Firefighter & Driver-Operator) based in Lake Country, BC. This position's work hours are based on an average 42-hour work week, which may include day or night shifts on weekdays, weekends and/or statutory holidays.

Under the Direction of the Fire Chief or designate(s), the Fire Resue Technician (Firefighter & Driver-Operator) works as a key member of their assigned team when responding to emergency incidents, non-emergency incidents, and public safety complaints as part of the composite firefighting force.

Required Qualifications and Experience
The Fire and Rescue Technician is required to have the following technical qualifications and work experience:IFASC or ProBoard certified NFPA 1001 Fire Fighter Level I and Level II;FireSmart 101 or equivalent;Minimum one year of municipal and wildland urban interface firefighting experience;Minimum British Columbia EMA First Responder Level III with AED, CPR and Schedule II endorsements;Minimum British Columbia Class III driver's license with air brake endorsement;Responsible driving record with no prohibition and no more than 6 points in the past 3 years;Ability to attain a vulnerable sector criminal record check to meet British Columbia EMA Licensing Board Requirements; andAbility to successfully complete the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) and the NFPA 1852 based Candidate Medical Assessment, both of which will be administered by a third party through this application process.
Preferred Training and Experience
The Fire and Rescue Technician is preferred to have the following technical qualifications and work experience:A minimum of one-year of post-secondary education towards a diploma, degree or technical trade;IFASC or ProBoard certified NFPA 1021 Fire Officer Level I;BCWS Engine Boss or equivalent;IFASC or ProBoard certified NFPA 1002 Driver Operator; andFireSmart Wildfire Mitigation Specialist or equivalent.
Pay rate of $40.94 per hour; a probation rate of 90% applies to the six-month probation period.
