Job Summary

• The Constable plays a crucial role as the main point of contact for all security and law enforcement matters. This position involves responding to emergency situations and maintaining security round the clock, requiring flexibility in working hours including days, nights, weekends, and holidays to safeguard a 24/7 operation.

Major Responsibilities

• Establish beneficial relationships with municipal, provincial, and federal authorities, major industries, and local businesses affecting CN
• Identify high-risk areas and develop strategies to enhance security and prevent losses
• Investigate and prosecute criminal incidents, actively enforce federal and provincial railway safety laws
• Engage in public speaking engagements regularly
• Oversee traffic and trespass enforcement efforts
• Deliver Operation Lifesaver presentations

Working Conditions

• Frequent travel across a large geographical region
• Preference for candidates residing in the specified geographical area
• Availability for shifts, weekends, and holidays as necessary

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited law enforcement program or equivalent
• Certification in or eligibility for First Aid and CPR
• Possession of a valid driver's license
• Residence within 50 km of the posting
• Strong teamwork skills, maintaining positive relations with other departments and local law enforcement agencies
• Exhibit sound judgment, professionalism, autonomy, and initiative
• Make informed and timely decisions to drive results
• Proficiency in both written and verbal English and French *

* Any relevant experience, education, skills, or knowledge related to the above requirements will be an advantage

Training

The successful candidate will undergo on-the-job training with a designated Coach Officer. Individuals without a certificate from an accredited police college must complete a 3-month training program at the Ontario Police College.
