St Andrews, Canada The Huntsman Marine Science Centre Full time

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team in St. Andrews, NB. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing various maintenance tasks on our Upper and Lower Campuses.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing facilities maintenance, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical work
  • Conducting interior and exterior building repairs, such as cedar shingles siding, roof shingles, doors, windows, toilets, and sinks
  • Maintaining and repairing heating, ventilation, refrigeration, and backup generators
  • Repairing equipment in a shop setting
  • Responding to housekeeping maintenance calls, including after-hours calls
  • Completing seasonal tasks, such as snow removal and grounds maintenance
  • Ensuring all projects and tasks are performed in accordance with established safe work practices and WorksafeNB guidelines
  • Performing basic computer tasks, including word processing, email, and data entry

Required qualifications include:

  • Completion of high school or GED
  • Journeyperson license in a relevant field, such as plumbing, electrical, or carpentry (not required but an asset)
  • 1-3 years of experience in building, electrical, and/or mechanical occupations (recently retired individuals with relevant experience also considered)
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism, including personal appearance and grooming, and confidentiality
  • Compliance with company standards and regulations to ensure safe and efficient operations
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, analytical ability, and innovative thinking
  • Self-motivation and results-oriented
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license (travel required)
