Job Description
This Senior Data Integration Engineer role is in the Group Functions Technology Actuarial and Reinsurance Data and Systems team. The successful candidate would lead a team of highly skilled data integration professionals, ensure business needs are well understood and satisfied following industry best practices around the design and governance of efficient, robust, scalable data integration processes and solutions.
Actuarial Projects and maintenance enhancements are highly complex, multi-faceted and federated across multiple line of business data warehouses. The Senior Data Integration Engineer provides data management leadership around many complex regulatory & compliance activities (IFRS17, OSFI, DOE reporting, etc).
Responsibilities
Data Integration Delivery
Provide leadership and direction for highly complex, multi-faceted data integration activities, including design, development, testing, change management & implementation of new solutions or enhancements to existing systems. Specifically:
- Triage business requirements against priorities, technical capabilities, data availability and risk management to determine the right approach to deliver (i.e., Waterfall approach versus Agile or other hybrid variations);
- Ensure timeline & delivery commitments are tightly managed and aligned with IT and Actuarial budgets and change control processes.
- Effectively manage operational risk and change management activities with a continuous focus on efficiency and process improvements.
Responsible for ensuring:
- all data integration processes conform to standard change management and operating procedures and aligns with the Manulife's audit requirements; and
- contribute & provide guidance around Enterprise Information Management's & Manulife's broader data governance activities (i.e., data quality, metadata management, stewardship, etc.).
Provide thought leadership & guidance around advancing new technologies & capabilities that are value-driven; remain current with industry advancements working closely with vendors; develop actionable plans to improve operations & capabilities that have real cost, time & quality benefits.
People Management
Responsible for providing information, expertise, and direction to a large team of full-time and contract staff, specifically:
- Responsible for all team's goal planning, achievement assessments, and employee development plans,
- Work closely with senior management to determine resource requirements & planning,
- Encourage and ensure all team members participate in cross-training & job sharing; create an annual plan for skill development and advanced technical capabilities,
- Facilitate technical meetings with stakeholders and advise technical option analyses based on leading practices in language understandable by stakeholders.
- Demonstrated years BI/DW industry experience with SDLC methodologies around waterfall, rapid, agile, etc.,
- Strong understanding of BI/DW tooling (i.e., Informatica, SQL, DevOps, Microsoft SQL, SQL Server Mgmt Studio, etc.),
- Demonstrated experience in building & managing a small to medium technical team (
- Strong interpersonal skills with experience working in a cross-matrix organization & excellent written and verbal communication skills,
- Demonstrated strong analytical & leadership skills in a complex & changing business environment,
- Experience in the Insurance Industry strongly desired.

Salary & Benefits
The annual base salary for this role is listed below.
Primary Location
Toronto, Ontario
Salary range is expected to be between
$92,190.00 CAD - $171,210.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
