We are currently seeking Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering Students to work in our Estimating Department. The successful candidates will be working in our Edmonton, AB office . We are looking for students available for 4, 8 or 12-month terms starting in September 2024 .

Responsibilities

  • Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings.
  • Assist in building the estimate by formatting and organizing takeoffs.
  • Review specifications and drawings to ensure all details are captured.
  • Call trades to discuss scope of work and confirm bidding status.
  • Help with bid closings and dropping off bids.
  • Attend construction site-visits for exposure to the construction process, understanding the challenges faced on site and acquire "lessons learned", from operations team.
  • Attend pre-bid site visits to gather information for project logistic planning, as well as, assessing risks and opportunities, through assessment reports, to build a more accurate estimate
  • Setting up and updating information on Smartbidnet.
  • Reviewing changes to drawings and specs pre and post tender.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a team environment and effectively communicate with multiple team members
  • Candidates must have a strong desire to work in a construction environment and prior field construction experience will be considered an asset.
  • Application of various computer software programs will be required, including word processing, spreadsheet applications and drafting.
  • Knowledge of Revit, Bluebeam, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office will be beneficial.
  • Access to a clean, reliable vehicle.
