The center aims to help patients recover and return to their homes or other facilities in the community.OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST WITH A FOCUS ON MENTAL HEALTH – FULL TIMEPosition Summary:The Occupational Therapist at TGHC provides client-centered care following the standards of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO). The therapist designs personalized therapy programs for patients with a focus on mental health and wellness, aiming to improve their quality of life and assist in community reintegration. Additionally, the therapist plays a crucial role in the Palliative Care Unit, ensuring patients' mobility and daily living activities.Responsibilities:
  • Counsel individual patients and facilitate group therapy programs
  • Develop care plans and provide psycho-educational sessions
  • Liaise with interdisciplinary teams and manage referrals
  • Conduct cognitive assessments and participate in patient rounds
  • Transition patients to community programs and supervise students
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to program development
  • Apply critical thinking and leadership skills to enhance decision making
  • Assume responsibility for patient care and uphold TGHC policies
  • Provide education on mental health topics and collaborate with healthcare professionals
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master of Science in Occupational Therapy
  • Registration with COTO
  • Experience in mental health and hospital settings preferred
  • Skills in counselling and psychoeducation
  • Current Basic Life Saving course preferred
  • Initiative, communication skills, and commitment to continuous learning
  • Computer proficiency and physical fitness for the job
