JOB SUMMARY

Leads Quality Engineers and Senior Quality Engineers in the delivery of quality strategies and deliverables. Develops and manages a continuous improvement program to improve quality, consistency, and client satisfaction. Enables Product Teams to adapt and implement a Quality Engineering (QE) mindset. As the organization shifts from Waterfall and Agile towards SAFe, supports application development groups in their journey to Agile. Helps create and champions QE principles of automation and continual improvement to advance product development. Drives the creation and adoption of automated testing to facilitate innovation, quality, and speed to market. Partners with vendor and internal Marriott teams to provide leadership, strategy, and orchestration of all testing events to ensure that quality gates are met consistently, drive automation, and coordinate impacted groups across the enterprise. Provides expert guidance on test environment strategy, setup, and configuration. Coordinates with Product teams and Software Development Engineers in Test (SDET) to establish KPIs and Metrics in-line with QE guidelines. Collaborates with Platform teams to ensure tools required for testing conform to standards and help implement new solutions as required. Work with Product teams to ensure integration/ end-to-end test cases are identified and maintained. Assists in the evaluation of QE-related vendors and engages resources outside Marriott to evaluate existing processes and stays cognizant of emerging trends in software testing. Manage teams of Senior Quality Engineers as they deliver QE services directly to Marriott development teams. Engage with QE product vendors and Service Providers to develop and maintain working relationships and manage delivery workloads.

Expected deliverables may include: Quality Engineering Strategies, Test Strategies, Test Implementation Plans, Jira Initiatives, Epics and User Stories, presentations to Senior Management, and Marriott internal deliverables including Associate Performance Management materials.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

Required:

• 10 years of IT leadership experience with a blend of deep technical knowledge and a customer-focused mindset

• Direct management of cross functional, sourced, or offshore teams

• 8 years' experience in software development, test engineering, with expert-level expertise in multiple testing methodologies

• 8 years' experience engaging highly technical architecture, engineering and operations teams and driving outcomes with QE automation

• Excellent verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills

• Experience with DevOps tools (e.g. Git, JIRA, Ant, Maven, Jenkins) and Test Automation

• Experience in financial management of budgets and cost estimations

• Undergraduate degree in an engineering or computer science discipline and/or equivalent experience/certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proven ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

• Demonstrated ability to assess customer/client needs, creatively approach solutions, and influence appropriate courses of action

• Strong attention to detail with an ability to operate effectively across multiple priorities

• Strong knowledge of emerging tools, software, applications, and systems for attaining best-in-class IT technology across the enterprise

• Graduate degree

• Technical certifications (i.e., PMP, CSTE, CSQA, Certified SAFe)

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Quality Leadership

• Works with direct reports to facilitate consistency of service delivery across client groups

• Mentors and coaches QE team members who work with product team members on Quality Engineering tasks and procedures

• Communicates to Application Development leaders opportunities to improve quality

• Establishes the flow of work within the Quality Engineering area

• Functions as escalation contact for Product teams and SDETs

Delivering Technology

• Performs complex quantitative and qualitative analyses for delivering automated testing processes and tools

• Negotiates and directs the implementation of enabling tooling such as Tosca, NeoLoad, Cucumber, etc.

• Facilitates CI/CD using the DevOps pipeline

• Validates solutions with enterprise architecture team

• Facilitates achievement of expected deliverables and obligations of Service Providers

• Ensures proper coordination with appropriate IT and vendor relations teams

• Coordinates with Operations and Infrastructure teams for deployment and production support activities
