About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Psychometrist provides clinical, educational and research functions to the ABI Program under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist. The primary responsibilities of the Psychometrist are focused on optimizing the provision of clinical neuropsychological services. One of the key responsibilities is neuropsychological testing, which involves the assessment of cognitive functioning including judgement, memory, attention, language, visual perception, general intelligence (IQ), motor speed, spatial perception, abstract reasoning and emotional/behavioral issues through the use of standardized paper and pencil or computerized tests.

The ABI Program delivers clinical neuropsychology services based in two locations - the Nova Scotia Rehabilitation and Arthritis Centre (NSRAC) and the Halifax Infirmary (HI) Site. Psychometrists based at the NSRAC site work primarily with patients who have experienced an acquired brain injury, and psychometrists based at the HI site work with patients who have experienced or are being investigated for epilepsy.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Masters degree in Clinical/Applied Psychology/Counselling Psychology, Neuroscience, School Psychology or equivalent acceptable to the discipline.
  • Training and/or experience in the administration and scoring of psychological tests preferred.
  • Completion of a graduate level practicum in assessment or intervention or equivalent an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, judgement, verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail will be required.
  • Experience working with clients with acquired brain injury or other neurological populations an asset.
  • Experience in rehabilitation an asset.
  • Employees are responsible to access training, education and awareness of safety (occupational health safety and patient safety) annually.
  • Travel to various sites may be required.
  • Competencies in other languages preferred, French is an asset.

Compensation and Incentives

$ $40.90 Hourly
