As a Recreation Aide, you will be responsible for assisting the recreation team in delivering recreation activities that promote the physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and cultural needs of our residents.
Responsibilities:- Engage residents through regular conversation and build meaningful relationships
- Assist with program coordination and implementation, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for residents
- Provide one-on-one support to residents, addressing their individual needs and concerns
- Observe and report on resident care and services, ensuring high-quality care and support
- Assist with coordinating volunteers and community resources, enhancing the resident experience
- Collaborate with peers to coordinate activities, promoting teamwork and resident engagement
- Manage recreation equipment, including inventory and maintenance concerns, to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment
- Set up and clean up after events and activities, maintaining a tidy and organized space
- Operate in compliance with relevant laws and regulations, prioritizing resident safety and well-being
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operational requirements, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability
- Experience in a residential care setting is preferred, with a strong understanding of resident needs and preferences
- Completion of high school diploma, with a focus on communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Valid provincial class 4 driver's license is an asset, with a clean driving record
- Completion of CPR and First Aid is an asset, with a focus on resident safety and well-being
- Safe Food Handling Certificate is required, with a focus on maintaining a safe and healthy environment
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with residents, peers, and operational partners
- Superior organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities
- Superior oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with residents, peers, and operational partners
- Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and problem-solve, with a focus on resident needs and preferences
- Clear drivers abstract, with a clean driving record
- Clear Police Information Check, with a focus on resident safety and well-being
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check, with a focus on protecting vulnerable residents
