Job Summary

The On-Call Certified Education Assistant plays a vital role in supporting students with high needs, providing a solid foundation for their physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and cultural development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers with organization and lesson preparation
  • Support small group instruction under the direction of the classroom teacher
  • Provide one-to-one support for students in literacy and math
  • Collaborate with teachers to identify ways to support student learning outcomes
  • Assist in developing and implementing Individual Education Plans and SMART Goals
  • Manage classroom expectations through positive reinforcement
  • Supervise outside play and assist with other supervision duties as required
  • Develop and maintain a good working relationship with parents
  • Participate in staff language classes and assist in the delivery of language to students
Requirements
  • Grade 12 diploma
  • Certified Education Assistant is preferred
  • Current First Aid/CPR certificate
  • Two years of experience as Education Assistant is preferred
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students and their parents
  • Experience working with First Nations communities
