We are looking for an Operator/Maintainer who can be highly motivated, adapt to changing situations and priorities, interact well with others and demonstrate the ability to both work independently and to contribute effectively within a team. The work schedule will be determined based on department needs and could include 12-hour shift schedule with 7 on 7 off rotation (days and nights). In order to be considered for this role you must possess a Blue Seal Boom Truck Certification.

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor and working in an exciting and unique environment within the Iron Ore Company of Canada, you will:

  • Work safely through appropriate behaviors and adherence to IOC safety standards.
  • Keep work area safe, clean and well maintained. Take timely action to correct unsafe work conditions in the work area.
  • Be responsible for the proper operation, maintenance, and control of equipment to ensure production targets are achieved safely and efficiently.
  • Communicate all unresolved safety and process deficiencies to the supervisors involved.
  • Provide feedback to supervisors regarding equipment performance.
  • Maintain a continuous improvement focus by developing and participating in implementation of appropriate solutions to eliminate the issues/problems identified in the work area.
  • Challenge the way the work is done.

Please note: Fly-in-fly-out arrangements are not available. Relocation assistance to Labrador West region is provided.

What you'll bring

  • Must have completed High School or possess a General Education Diploma
  • Must possess a valid NL Class 03 drivers license
  • Must possess a valid NL Class 05 driver's license with Air Brake (09) and Traction (08) endorsements.
  • Must have two (2) years proven experience and competent as a loader and excavator operator; or
  • Must have completed a training course on such equipment at a recognized training institution
  • Must possess a Blue Seal Boom Truck Certification

We are a leading North American producer and exporter of premium iron ore pellets and high-grade concentrate with average iron grades greater than 66%. We also operate a wholly-owned 418 km railway, the Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway (QNS&L), that links our Labrador operations to Company-owned port facilities in Sept-Iles.
