The City of Burnaby is seeking an Aquatic Leader 1 to assist in the provision of aquatic instructional and recreational programs at Eileen Dailly Pool.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and support lifeguards, instructors, and recreation attendants
  • Maintain pool areas and changeroom areas to ensure cleanliness and safety
  • Participate in the planning, organization, and promotion of aquatic programs and special events
  • Conduct swimming lessons, lifeguarding, and safety training programs
  • Perform emergency response and prepare records and reports
  • Work effectively with the public, user groups, and staff team
Requirements:
  • Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by courses in lifesaving, lifeguarding, aquatics instruction, and pool operation and maintenance
  • Sound knowledge of lifesaving, lifeguarding, CPR, first aid, and teaching methods
  • Experience in supervisory roles and pool operations
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Additional certifications, such as Swim Instructor Trainer, National Lifeguard Instructor, and First Aid Instructor
  • Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia
  • Certifications in Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor, Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor, National Lifeguard - Pool Award, and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation Certificate - Level C
