Responsibilities • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care of assigned patients • Participate in and support the total therapeutic program of the Unit • Collect information from various sources to enable the provision of appropriate nursing care • Write timely and accurate reports of relevant assessments and observations • Communicate and consult with members of the health care team about patients' care • Act as an advocate to protect and promote patients' rights • Participate in quality improvement activities and research • Participate in the orientation and ongoing education of nursing staff and students • Maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and staff Qualifications • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse • May require completion of a substance use certificate program • Ability to complete initial and ongoing mental health and substance use client assessment and provide nursing care • Knowledge of mental illness and substance use treatment • Counselling and group facilitation skills • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with patients, families/care givers, and members of the interprofessional care team About Fraser Health Fraser Health is a leading health system in Canada, providing hospital and community-based health services to nearly 2 million people in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
