The City of Toronto is seeking a skilled Golf Course Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Parks, Forestry & Recreation department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and repair of golf course facilities, equipment, and grounds.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks involved in general maintenance and repairs of facilities, building and grounds found within a golf course setting.
- Install, operate, maintain, repair and adjust mechanical equipment related to golf courses not requiring the services of a licensed tradesperson.
- Perform winter maintenance and snow removal around course facilities.
- Prepare and maintain written reports and documents related to maintenance activities.
- Operate various types of motor vehicles, tractors, dump trucks, loaders, trenchers and other specialized equipment, power tools and hand tools associated with the job functions.
- Maintain and repair golf course semi-automatic and automatic irrigation systems.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Experience in the testing, maintenance and general repair of all unlicensed mechanical equipment relative to golf course operations.
- Experience in the sharpening of all cutting equipment and various grinding principles and techniques.
- Experience in the start-up, operation and winterizing of fully automated and semi-automated irrigation systems.
- Valid Province of Ontario, Class "G" Driver's License and ability to obtain required City permit for assigned vehicle(s) and equipment(s).
- Basic knowledge of the repair and operation of facilities on a golf course.
- Familiarity with requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively and deal courteously with the public.
- Ability to compile and keep good maintenance records.
