About the Role

This is a part-time contract position working day shift, Monday to Friday. The successful incumbent will be responsible for analysis and assignment of Classification Codes for Acute Inpatient (DAD) and assist the Release of Information Office to process requests related to Access and Disclosure of Personal Health Information.

  • Assist in the analysis and assignment of Classification Codes for Acute Inpatient (DAD)
  • Process requests related to Access and Disclosure of Personal Health Information
  • Ensure compliance with legislative turn-around times
  • Contribute to data quality and analysis, case weight monitoring, and verification of unspecified clinical information with physician groups
  • Interact with internal and external customers in a professional and patient-focused manner
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Health Information Management program
  • Certification with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) in good standing
  • Minimum 2 years of current experience for coding and abstracting and release of information
  • Proficiency with electronic abstracting and computer applications (Word and Excel)
  • Excellent skills for case analysis and interpretation for ICD coding classification
  • Ability to apply quality practices and standards to coding and abstracting
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure
