The City of Port Moody is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual to supervise the weight room and surrounding areas.
This position will provide instruction in and monitor for the safe use of equipment in the weight room while ensuring the aerobics, spinning and weight room equipment and areas are clean, safe and ready to use.
Duties may include the following:Monitor weight room to ensure patrons abide by rules and equipment is used safelyProvide orientation or direct instruction to patronsMaintain cleanliness of weight, aerobic and spinning rooms and ensure equipment is safe and ready to use; report equipment issues as they ariseCheck in patrons and enter information on computerRespond to incidents and emergencies and provide first aid as needed
This is a regular, part-time position estimated to be 20 hours per week; the current schedule is as follows:
Tuesday: 5:45am-11:30am
Thursday:11:30am-4:30pm
Friday: 5:45am-10:45am
Saturday: 7:45am-2:15pm
Plus, possible subbing

Basic Qualifications:High school education plus a minimum of six months to one year of related weight room experienceCompletion of six months of related post-secondary courses (ie: sport sciences, kinesiology or specialized technical certification)BCRPA weight training module or equivalent certificationBCRPA Personal Trainer Certification or equivalent is preferredEmergency First Aid and CPR C / AED (or equivalent) is requiredPhysically fit and able to lift weights of differing amounts, clean continuously during shiftExcellent customer service skills and experience instructing and directing weight room patronsAbility to work effectively both independently and in a team environmentSome experience / knowledge of MS Office and Perfect Mind would be an asset
