We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our Urban Transportation Solutions team in the Greater Toronto Area. This is an exciting opportunity to work on dynamic, transit projects that prioritize faster and more convenient travel for our community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure accuracy of bid costs and actual costs of work performed.
  • Analyze documents, drawings, specifications, proposals, and addendums to prepare for pricing.
  • Communicate with clients through oral and written estimates.
  • Review project sites prior to price preparation.
  • Perform quantity take-offs from construction drawings.
  • Obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors, compiling information into estimates.
  • Formulate all costs for tender submissions, including labor, equipment, materials, rentals, and subcontracts.
  • Distribute documentation upon award of project.
  • Collaborate with Operations to drive project success and learning.
  • Perform post-bid and post-project analysis, ensuring associated learning and communication takes place.
  • Assist with RFPs and general contract tender submissions.
  • Assist with prequalification submissions, RFQs, and RFI's as required.
  • Comply with Aecon's risk management policies and procedures.
  • Protect proprietary information.
  • Maintain estimating data systems to ensure they are up to date.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience in estimating.
  • University degree, college diploma, or trades background, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and documents.
  • Good knowledge of job cost fundamentals for typical items and scopes.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Word.
  • Experience with estimating software is considered an asset.
  • Proven organizational skills.
  • Ability to time manage and formulate plans to meet multiple deadlines in a high-pressure work environment.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required.
  • Adaptable to flexible work schedules when required to meet deadlines.
